Amalgamated is pleased to announce Release 3 of our Internet access system, AMOSNET.

A myriad of new features and navigational shortcuts have been incorporated into this update.

Bankruptcy Filings

The year-end bankruptcy filing numbers have posted. Overall, bankruptcies rose 38 percent in 2007. This comes off the historically low filings in the year 2006.

Chapter 7 cases were up 44 percent for a total of 519,364. Chapter 13 bankruptcies (under which most consumers file) climbed to 324,771 a nearly 30 percent increase over 2006.

Business bankruptcies totaled 28,322, representing a 44 percent yearly increase.

Early 2008 trends indicate that the pace of filings is continuing to increase at about a 25% rate over 2007.
